A day on the beach in Miyajima
Took a trip to Miyajima island, very close to Hiroshima, which definitely delivered on views and relaxation.

A short ferry ride, and past the Oyster farms, is Miyajima island, home of the Ituskushima Jinga (shrine).
After lots of days of walking around cities, it was a relief to walk along the beach (and in the sea at many points), and chill out looking at nature. The juxtaposition of this idyllic place with the city close by did not go unnoticed by many.
The Island quite large but I spent my time mainly in the town as there was a lot to see, but fortunately everything is very close, so much easier on the feet. One word of warning - the deer are an absolute menace if you fancy something to eat!
I'll admit there are lots of photos of the Tori gate here, but as this is reputedly one of the 'top 3 views in Japan' , I did want to capture it, especially during the sunset. The town is quite lovely too, once you're away from the Touristy areas.
