Discovering Nagoya

After Suzuka, to Nagoya for a rest, which pleasantly surprised me.

After the walking in Suzuka, I needed a rest and so aimed for a city with a working subway and streetlights! Picked out Nagoya as being somewhere to explore for a couple of days, and it was lovely.

After being 'in the sticks' for the previous weekend, my next random hotel booking placed me in the local nightlife and food hotspot - very lucky !:)

Nagoya may not have the 'must do' attractions you see listed everywhere, but I have to say it struck me as a good example of a 'normal' city, with some homeless, a seedy area, a pretty area and enough interest for longer than I stayed (just 2 days, sadly).

Visited the excellent Toyota Museum, which does an great job of charting the history of the company, and manufacturing in general. Lots of working machinery from the early days of the company, before pivoting into the car manufacturing domain for which it is now known. On leaving, I felt more educated and it's another example of things the Japanese do well - inclusive and community learning.

Then off to Nagoya Castle for sunset and daytime shots (different days , obviously), before finding that my hotel backed onto Hisaya-Odori Park, a quite unexpectedly pretty and bustling area where people came for the evening (good food here too!).

On the second night, I had to check myself wondering why everyone was there many in imaginative cosplay and other outfits - then I realised it was Halloween! I caught a few of them in the pictures below, but sadly photos can't convey the energy of that event, even though I hope you can tell everyone was very enthusiastic!

In addition to the above (I was supposed to be here for a rest!) , I took nice walk through the Atsuta Jinga park at Sunset, which was so nice I almost forgot to take photos, and to be frank a little 'camera fatigue' had started to set in - something I need to be wary of, in future!
